Each month, eggs are supposed to be released from ovarian follicles to travel down your fallopian tubes. Sperm must travel up the same tube to meet and fertilize your eggs. If the fallopian tubes are damaged or blocked, sperm can’t reach your eggs. Similarly, poor quality or low numbers of sperm can prevent eggs and sperm from interacting in a timely manner. In-vitro fertilization, or IVF, is an excellent treatment option to help achieve a pregnancy when the fallopian tubes or sperm quality are compromised. The entire IVF process can be performed right here in our Tacoma facility. Our physicians will be happy to educate you on the specifics concerning this procedure. Ask us about in-vitro fertilization.
Wondering why you can’t have a child with normal intercourse? Sometimes a woman’s cervical mucus may be inhospitable to her partner’s sperm. Maybe the sperm themselves are low in number or weak in speed and progression preventing enough of them from making it to the fallopian tubes to successfully interact with your eggs. We can help with artificial insemination. With this procedure, the healthiest sperm from your partner or sperm donor are isolated, concentrated and safely placed directly into your uterus. This gives sperm a shorter distance to travel, bypasses potentially hostile cervical mucus, and increases the likelihood of sperm reaching your eggs thereby increasing your chance of becoming pregnant.
- Safe and simple procedure
- Gives sperm a shorter travel distance
- Allows eggs to more likely become fertilized for pregnancy
- Use fresh or frozen sperm from partner or donor
